Our Sustainability Report provides an overview of developments in all our areas of activity, bringing out the most important sustainability indicators and results.
Our operating policy is focused on the quality of the product and service, ensuring that this is achieved with minimal environmental impact. All our business and operational activities are dedicated to developing a globally sustainable renewable energy system to replace fossil emissions. Our business aims are based on the following principles:
We regularly monitor our environmental emissions and energy and resource efficiency to improve our company’s ecological footprint. We constantly improve performance and ensure sufficient information and resources to reach our targets. Upon making new decisions, we continuously evaluate their immediate and long-term impacts on our workers, clients, stakeholders, environment, efficiency and business.
Graanul Invest believes embedding sustainability throughout the organization protects and creates long-term value for stakeholders, both internal and external and will secure the long-term future of the Group
Graanul Invest has thus decided to establish a Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework (the “Framework”). Graanul Invest’s instruments under this Framework will be focused on contributing to SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production) and SDG 13[1] (Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts), relating to climate change or environmental degradation.https://graanulinvest.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/graanul-invest-group-sustainability-linked-financing-framework-second-party-opinion.pdf

We follow the principles and criteria of the most acknowledged sustainable forest management systems establishing grounds for assessing economic, social and ecological aspects of the operations of forest owners. Having joined the certified wood processing community, we support such forest management that maintains valuable ecosystems and ensures safe, healthy and fair working conditions for people working in forests. With wood certification, we exclude any unverified material which may originate from environmentally and socially damaging sources. Third-party controls help ensure that the absolute best service is provided to current as well as future customers and partners.
We cooperate only with such partners that operate according to the same quality, environment, energy performance and labour safety principles as we do. We only use suppliers who comply with the sustainable forestry standards and supply conforming products.
Corruption risk mitigation is an inseparable part of our operations. Through contractual relations, raising awareness, electronic payments, and constant auditing, we have achieved a due diligence system that leaves no room for unethical conduct in our value chain.
The roughly 500 people who are working with us every day are our central pillar and strength. Most of our plants are located outside bigger cities, providing stable and challenging job opportunities in rural areas. As important employers in the region, we keep a close connection with local communities. We actively encourage our people to raise their awareness about quality, the environment, energy efficiency and occupational health. We internally engage our employees in working groups where they can provide ideas and expertise for innovation and engineering projects. We thrive for constant improvement and support our people in learning and training. We also actively support our employees’ fitness and sports activities to encourage a healthy mind and body.
All our business directions – biomass and bioenergy production – are forward-looking solutions. That is why our support activities are focused mainly on supporting young people as our future. We have decided to contribute to the development of youth sports, education and research.
We are principally concentrating on the local community’s interests and what the favourite activities are in the given region. We have carried on with a principle where our factories support local initiatives and actions locally since they are the best judges of the needs of the area for support and have a connection with the local people. As team sports have become popular among young people, we support several youth basketball, volleyball and football clubs. Many of our group subsidiaries have developed their own areas of support that they cheer for wholeheartedly and offer longer-term backing. Every year we support over 60 different local initiative and activities in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the US.
Granul Invest’s operating principles unite our team and help us identify key cooperation partners who share similar views and enable us to apply these principles more and more widely. Our goal is to ensure a safe working environment and sustainable and efficient production process, which would allow us to create the best quality, environmentally friendly products. Graanul Invest and its all direct and indirect subsidiaries, regardless of location, are committed to ethical business operations and a sustainable value chain. We comply with all applicable laws, best practices, and the below principles in all jurisdictions in which we operate. We also monitor that our cooperation partners do the same.
