The premium pellets “summer sale” in Baltics brings exceptionally attractive prices

From March 15, Graanul Invest significantly reduced the price of Premium pellets in the domestic markets of the Baltic countries. The new retail price in the pellet.ee and graanul.lv environments is 200 € +VAT per ton.

We want to increase the share of effective consumption of local bioenergy as high as it is sustainably possible and ensure both private individuals and companies to have maximum trust and confidence in the use of local environmentally friendly biofuel. Prioritizing local natural resources also increases energy security. It creates a solid and reliable foundation for replacing imported fossil fuels with domestic, environmentally friendly, and carbon-neutral biofuel with nearly zero emissions.

“Graanul Invest is one of the world’s most important producers of wood pellets. Most of our production units are located in the Baltic countries. Our long-term goal is to make pellets an attractive and competitive alternative to fossil natural gas, heating oil, and electric heating in the domestic market as an environmentally friendly biofuel. The possibility of using local wood for heating homes is a significant guarantee of energy security in our region, as well as a unique advantage. It is also a great opportunity to reduce the environmental footprint of the energy sector,” commented Jaano Haidla, board member of Graanul Invest. “Companies related to the forest and wood industry in the Baltic and Nordic countries perfectly understand their responsibility, role, and opportunity to increase the strength and competitiveness of their home countries in today’s crises. Prioritizing local sustainable resources is the easiest and smoothest way to emerge victorious from global crises.”

Premium pellets are a sustainable, local, and carbon-neutral fuel

Premium pellets used for domestic heating and for smaller industrial boilers are made from 100% sawmill industry residues: sawdust and planing shavings. Clean and uniform quality raw materials ensure the best mechanical strength of the pellets and very low content of fine particles and dust. This is essential for the trouble-free operation of small boilers’ mechanical fuel supply systems. All the electricity and thermal energy used for the production of pellets is 100% green: it is produced from forest industry residues (forest chips and wood bark) in the group’s own cogeneration plants. Together with the energy produced for its own production processes, Graanul Invest, with its 6 modern cogeneration plants, is one of the largest bioenergy producers in the Baltics and an important guarantor of security of supply and energy security.

Premium pellets are one of the most perfect examples of the green and sustainable circular economy

The raw material for premium pellets, sawdust and planing chips, comes to the pellet factory from the nearest sawmills as the process residue. The majority of the wood used by sawmills comes from local forests within a radius of 50 km from the factories. The products produced by sawmills-  wood products with long lifespans, remove carbon from the natural cycle for decades and even centuries, slowing climate warming. All production residues are then used and upcycled in the energy industry, e.g. for the production of pellets. Thanks to local raw materials and globally highly efficient transport chains, the fossil CO2 footprint of premium pellets is minimal, and the carbon released by burning the wood in the pellet is part of its normal, natural cycle. Biofuels, including pellets, are the easiest to use and economically available alternative to fossil fuels, with close to zero fossil CO2 emissions and the most effective, immediately applicable way to mitigate the global climate crisis.

Heating with pellets is simple, convenient, and environmentally friendly

Pellet boilers and fireplaces are the easiest way to make sustainable and green heating with local wood automatic. Thanks to the use of the highest quality wood as raw material, the ash content of the pellets is very low compared to hardwood, and the boilers require minimal maintenance. The moisture content of wood pellets is only 5-7%, up to 5X less than that of firewood. The combustion of the pellets in the boiler is uniform, controlled and complete. Compared to classic stoves, more efficient pellet boilers produce significantly less health-threatening air emissions and are therefore perfect for being used in densely populated urban environments.
